Steamed Cranberry-Cherry Pudding with Vanilla Cream

A classic bread-and-custard steamed pudding with dried cherries, cranberries, and pecans, unmolded and served with fresh whipped vanilla cream. The most impressive dessert you will ever attempt.

Ingredients
- 4 egg yolks
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon orange peel
- 1 cup orange juice
- ½ cup dried cherries
- ½ cup dried cranberries
- 21 slices firm white bread, cubed
- 18 candied cherries
- ½ cup pecans
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons sugar

Prepare custard by heating egg yolks, milk, sugar, and salt until thickened. Add vanilla and orange peel.

Soak dried cherries and cranberries in orange juice. Cube bread and combine with custard and fruit.

Layer mixture in greased mold with candied cherries and pecans.

Steam in covered mold over simmering water for 1½–2 hours. Cool slightly; unmold.

Whip cream with sugar. Serve pudding with whipped vanilla cream.
