Bonus: Andy Williams and the NBC Kids Easter in Rome (w/ Mike and Tim)

What's up, dudes? Andy Williams is back, and he’s chaperoning the NBC kids in Europe once again! Mike Westfall of Advent Calendar House and Tim Babb from Can’t Wait for Christmas are with me to talk “Andy Williams and the NBC Kids Easter in Rome!”

Apparently, Andy Williams wanted to spend spring in Europe, so he gathered his friends from NBC and met them in Rome. They take a horse drawn carriage, sing a song, then go their separate ways. Tina Yothers hunts for guys at an ice cream disco. Kim Fields goes shopping for pink blazers. Danny Ponce looks at sports cars, and the Lawrences search for food.

Eventually, they meet up and absorb some Roman culture through archaeology and a famous ristorante. Andy surprises them with the gifts they wanted, and takes them to meet Pope St. John Paul II. Joey gives him a friendship bracelet, then they all go to Easter service and sing another song.

Aqueducts? Check. Papal audience? Got it. Chili dogs? None better than Roman! So grab your  flash cards, learn Italian, and sing along with “Andy Williams and the NBC Kids Easter in Rome!”

Bonus: The First Easter Rabbit (w/ Littles #1-3)

What’s up, dudes? Well, it seems that Little #1, Little #2, and Little #3 hijacked my recording studio and held their own episode all about the 1976 Rankin Bass Easter special "The First Easter Rabbit!" It's an adaptation of the children's book "The Velveteen Rabbit," and it's wild!

A young girl named Glinda gets a stuffed bunny for Christmas which she names Stuffy. She loves it unconditionally, but when she contracts scarlet fever, it has to be burned. Stuffy is approached by a magical sprite named Calliope, who transforms him into a real rabbit. She mandates that he become the first Easter Bunny.

Stuffy meets Santa Claus and moves into Easter Valley, an area of the North Pole perpetually existing in Spring. Unfortunately, an ice wizard (perhaps a former servant of Winterbolt?) named Zero steals the Golden Easter Lily, causing the valley to freeze and snow. Santa rescues Stuffy and helps him deliver his Easter goods to Glinda's hometown. He also forces Zero to return the Lily. All's well that ends well.

A fairy that knows substitutiary locomotion? Check. A Savage Land type headquarters? Got it. A remorseful sentient snowball? For sure! So grab your Easter eggs, put on your bonnet, and take Santa's sleigh to this episode!

In this 9th episode from the 1984 series, Diana sends a mistletoe sales lady to collect the starchild Elizabeth’s blood. With it, she’s able to clone the starchild at Christmastide. Unfortunately, the clone is feral and kills just about everything.

Meanwhile, Donovan, Ham, and Farber work with a church to smuggle orphans into the free city of LA to get them to foster parents. Consequently, the action draws Visitor suspicion, and the Resistance has to use force to succeed. While all this is occurring, Bates discovers that Julie is a mole and has the restaurant headquarters attacked. Luckily, everyone escapes, the clone dis in Elizabeth’s arms, the tracker is killed, and Ham plays Santa!

Bonus: Throwback Thursday: Robotech (w/ AA and CM Chuck)

What’s up, dudes? I’ve got AA and CM Chuck from Just Another Friday Night here to talk the remarkably well written Robotech! For a kids show, it tackled some pretty adult themes! There’s a love triangle, civilian casualties, and a successful villain mission? What?! It’s true!

It’s Christmas time, and Khyron is out for protoculture! This means he plans to lead a raiding party to take some by force. Meanwhile, Rick Hunter’s personal life is thrown into further disarray when his ex Minmei shows up unexpectedly due to her seasonal loneliness. And when his potential (and spoiler alert: eventual) love interest Lisa Hayes catches them in flagrante delicto, things get even more dicey! Khyron subsequently attacks, and while veritech pilots are scrambled, Lisa neglects to contact Rick due to her spurned heart. Overhearing the conflict on the news, Rick rushes to the city’s aid. Unfortunately Khyron is sneakily strategic, and plants bombs around the city. It’s get the bad guy or save the city time, so there’s only one thing to do!

There are multiple casualties and injured, but not even a Zentraedi attack can break the Christmas spirit! The faithful gather at a church to sing “Silent Night,” and Rick and Minmei share a meal and a kiss!

This Christmas episode is heart-pounding and gut-wrenching! It’s also a tribute to the human spirit and the spirit of Christmas! So grab your protoculture, hop into your veritech’s cockpit, and fly into this Robotech episode!!

S6E370: M.A.S.K. “Christmas Kidnap” / “Mardi Gras Mystery” (w/ Nicholas Pepin)

What’s up, dudes? It's Mardi Gras, so we're celebrating with a special episode of M.A.S.K. "Mardi Gras Mystery!" Oh, and there's a Christmas comic we're talking about too. Nicholas Pepin of Pop Culture Roulette joins me to dig into the Mobile Armored Strike Kommand UK comic Christmas issue and Fat Tuesday episode!

In "Christmas Kidnap," Matt Trakker takes his son and robot sidekick T-Bob to a toy store in London. Scott visits Santa, and gets kidnapped by Miles Mayhem who was masquerading (no pun intended) as Father Christmas. Consequently, T-Bob has to rescue Scott. Luckily, he does, and V.E.N.O.M. ends up buried under Christmas decorations.

In "Mardi Gras Mystery," once again Matt, Scott, and T-Bob are on a mission, this time in New Orleans. V.E.N.O.M. is looking for a super fuel resource, and M.A.S.K. has to stop them. Of course, shenanigans ensue. Undercover ops are blown, vehicles can't transform, and kids fall into quicksand. In the end, Scott pours super fuel residue into the baddies' fuel tanks.

Masks? Check. Vehicles? Got 'em. Disguises? Well, if you like Groucho Marx glasses. so put on your mask, drive to New Orleans, and celebrate Mardi Gras (and Christmas) to this episode on M.A.S.K. "Mardi Gras Mystery!"

S6E369: LOST EPISODE: Santabear's first Christmas (w/ Christmas Cousins)

S6E369: LOST EPISODE: Santabear's first Christmas (w/ Christmas Cousins)

What's up, dudes? A LOST EPISODE has been found! The Christmas Cousins, Chad and Seth, are here (back in August of '24) to talk the 1986 special "Santabear's First Christmas!" This "Reading Rainbow"-like special is narrated by Kelly McGillis and composed by Michael Hedges. In fact, it's based on a book by Barbara Read and adapted by Thomas Roberts.

When a young snowbear is separated from his parents, he's adopted by a young girl named Marie. Marie and her grandfather teach the bear to read, speak, and bake cookies. Unfortunately, the girl's grandfather falls ill, and the firewood runs low. The snowbear ventures out to collect firewood.

Subsequently, he falls in a snow drift and is trapped. A moose rescues him and takes him to some beavers, but they are all out of wood. Luckily, Santa shows up, gives the bear a saw and a sled, and the bear delivers the wood to the girl. Santa Claus appoints the young bear as his helper in delivering toys to the animals in the forest, and he becomes known as Santabear. Oh, and he's reunited with his family.

Friendly young girl? Check. Barbarian Santa? Yep. Unhygienic kitchen? Probably, if a bear is baking cookies. So grab your saw, cut down some firewood, and train a bear to listen to this episode on "Santabear's First Christmas!"
